About Stefan

I’m a physicist-turned-SEO-turned-software-developer from 🇩🇪 Germany. Over the past two decades, I’ve built an online marketing SaaS, created a web-scale search engine from scratch, and written Tablecruncher, a lightweight CSV editor for macOS—because I needed a tool that could open large files quickly without getting in the way.
The Missing Header is my way of tackling the quiet chaos in data work: inconsistent formats, character encoding issues, undocumented exports, and all the strange little traps that make working with real-world data so frustrating. It’s about understanding the quirks behind the mess and building better habits, tools, and mental models to deal with them.
This newsletter is where I share what I’ve learned, what I’m still figuring out, and what might just save your next spreadsheet.
